Lithium batteries
Lithium batteries are used as energy source to a variety of consumer goods eg. mobile phones, children toys, computers and medical equipment. The batteries can generate a great amount of heat if short circuited, or may catch fire if damaged. Therefore lithium batteries are considered dangerous goods that can pose a safety risk. The cabin crew shall be informed immediately if an electronic device is damaged, hot or produces smoke.
Power banks are only permitted carried in hand luggage on Widerøe flights, and it is prohibited to use or charge them on board.
On Widerøe flight the following restrictions on lithium batteries as baggage apply:

*Airline approval will be granted provided that:
- Spare batteries are adequately protected against short circuit by either enclosing them in their original retail packaging, taping over the terminals or enclosed in separate plastic bags for each battery.
- Batteries contained in equipment are switched off and measures taken to ensure that they cannot be accidently activated.
- Homemade electronic devices (radio controlled cars, aircraft, drone etc), will not be accepted for transport unless the batteries are removed from the equipment, and carried according to rules for spare batteries.
