Passport and Visa

When traveling domestic in Norway, passport is not required. If you are travelling to/from the UK and to/from some other destinations operated by our partners, passport and/or visa is required.

Schengen

Travelling to Norway and Schengen

Norway is a Schengen member. If you are travelling from a country outside Schengen you need to present a valid passport upon arrival. If you are staying for a longer period, you might need a visa. Please check local requirements.

Travelling within Schengen

Immigration controls no longer apply when travelling between the Schengen countries. However, you should still take your passport or national ID card with you as means of identification.

The Schengen area consists of

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Non-Schengen

United Kingdom

Most visitors travelling to the United Kingdom need either an electronic travel authorization (ETA) or a visa. If you are transiting through the UK or staying for less than six months, you must have been granted an ETA before you travel. If you are going to work, study or stay in the UK for more than six months, you will need a visa.

ETA requirements and rules

An ETA is a digital permission to travel to the UK and does not guarantee entry. It is linked to your passport, so if your passport expires you will need to apply for it again.

Europe (non-Schengen) and other continents

When flying on an international/intercontinental flight, always make sure to carry the necessary documentation. Such documentation includes passport, visa, Electronic Travel Authority (Australia), exit permits, vaccination certificates, etc. To find out what documentation is necessary for your destination, please contact the embassy or government websites.

USA

Everyone travelling to the US needs a machine-readable passport and/or visa. When entering the US, travellers will have their photo and fingerprint taken digitally. When travelling to the US all passengers need to register on ESTA. Contact the airline you are travelling with to register required passport information before travelling.
