Namsos

Let there be rock! Namsos is famous for being the cradle of the so called "trønder rock". Namsos Rockfestival is arranged every year, and the city shows its musical involvement through stately supported project Rock City Namsos. However, even though there is a strong focus on music and culture in Namsos, let us not forget the beautiful surroundings. This area has everything from deep forests to great swimming opportunities in beautiful places like Gullholmstranda beach, Kalvøya Island at the Bangsund recreation area and the lake at Spillum. In addition to the river Namsen, boiling with salmon, there is a huge population of elk, reflected both in Namsos municipal coat of arms and the statue "The Elk", placed in the city centre. As a curiosity we can mention that the smallest toll ring in the world is right here in Namsos. You won´t have to worry about that, though, if you fly here with Widerøe.
