Hammerfest

Island jumping is probably not the first word that comes to mind when you think about our country. However, if you fly with Widerøe to Hammerfest, our northernmost city, you can experience true Arctic island jumping. This region has everything from high mountains, plateaus and ocean, to pleasant fjords and small, uniqe coastal societies. You will also find a fascinating and rich plant- and animal life in this area, nowhere else to be found. The nature creates scenes and surroundings that is just waiting to be captured by the eager photographer. In Hammerfest you can also relax at the plateau, play golf in the midnight sun or experience the Sami life and culture up close. Another curiosity up here is the Struve Geodetic Arc, included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 2005.
