Bergen

Want to experience a great cultural happening? Make sure you are in Bergen at the end of May for the yearly International Festival. The Bergen International Festival presents art in all its guises: music, literature, theatre, dance, opera and visual art. The Bergen International Festival is the largest of its kind in the Nordic countries, with more than 150 events in 15 days.

Every summer in the month of June you can take a trip with the school ship "Statsraad Lehmkhul" from Bergen to the archipelago. This is a pleasant sailtrip on this ship from 1914.

A walk through the narrow passages on "Bryggen" in Bergen feels like travelling back in time. "Bryggen" is not a museum, but a cultural heritage that's in use, a living historical district with 61 protected buildings. Today this is a bustling area with shops, art studios, restaurants and offices.

Travelling with children? Take them to the Aquarium in Bergen and experience everything from cod to crocodilles and even sharks! The aquarium has over 60 different species, so there's something for everyone here. In the summer there are also concerts and shows.
