Alta
Why should you take a flight to Alta?
Get ready for an exotic journey to the far north! In addition to the spectacular scenery, the largest city in Finnmark also enjoys the midnight sun during summer and the northern light in winter. Take a flight to Alta, and you can climb the northernmost canyon in Europe or try your luck with a fishing rod in the Alta river, one of the best salmon rivers in Norway. If you prefer other wildlife than fishing, you can catch one of the many dogsled races or gaze at frilly herds of reindeer at close range. To try an accommodation out of the ordinary, we would recommend the Alta Ice Hotel at the farther end of the Altafjord. You can also book a flight to Alta and visit Alta Museum where you can check out Bjørn Wirkola´s collection of prizes and see traces of the first cavemen in Finnmark. Widerøe takes you directly to Alta Airport, so this gem is closer than you think.
