Increased taxation of the aviation industry and a market in decline has forced Widerøe to reduce production by two aircraft. As a result of this, the Stavanger-Newcastle route will be discontinued, and capacity between Stavanger and Aberdeen will be reduced by 6%. Widerøe will also discontinue two domestic routes and reduce capacity on a number of routes in Norway.
Widerøe Ground Handling AS (WGH) has signed an agreement with SAS to take over SAS's ground operations in Norway at all stations with the exception of Gardermoen. Takeover will take place on 1 February 2016.
This will make Widerøe's subsidiary WGH Norway's largest ground services operator.
